The Marmaris Yacht Charter Show began as a small get together: in 1980, three sailing yachts invited a small number of Yacht Charter Agents to join them for a short cruise along the Turkish Coast. . . and they all had an incredibly enjoyable time!

And so word got out that the Turkish Coast was a very unique and beautiful cruising ground. Prompted by the heightened level of interest in the destination, the pioneers of the Turkish yacht charter industry, Jillian and Jim Anderson (owner/operators of S/Y MOANA VAHINE) saw the need for a formal gathering of yachts and agents. May of 1981 saw the launching of the Marmaris Yacht Festival which was to become an annual event in which Yacht Charter Agents and Brokers from around the world were given an opportunity to see the "Turkish Fleet" of charter yachts, meet their crew and familiarize themselves with the area.

Over the years, the event grew to encompass more activities, including a fun race around Marmaris Bay, a Spring Regatta and a Trade Show with numerous local and national exhibitors. From sleek classic sailing yachts to traditionally-designed Turkish vessels and from high-tech cruisers to megayachts, the Marmaris Yacht Festival has been a showcase for them all and is today an internationally-recognised yachting event attracting as many as 30 yacht charter agents and twice as many yachts.
