OPTIMIST PROGRAMME

The Optimist dinghy is the world’s leading introductory sailing class for young sailors. At the Marmaris International Yacht Club, the Optimist Program provides children with a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sea while teaching the fundamentals of sailing and fostering lifelong values such as discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, and teamwork.

Our Summer Sailing School consists of five two-week sessions. Training is held on weekdays from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM as a half-day program. All sailing equipment required throughout the program is provided by the club. Each participant will also receive a complimentary cap, T-shirt, and bag.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION: A completed registration form, a declaration confirming the participant’s swimming ability, the parent or legal guardian’s population registration record, and, if applying for a discount, a current document verifying eligibility must be submitted.

DISCOUNT POLICY: A 10% discount is available if the participant’s parent (mother or father) is a MIYC member. * A 10% discount is available if the participant’s parent (mother or father) is a member or employee of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce. * Participants enrolling in more than one session receive a 15% discount for each additional session. * Only one discount may be applied per participant. Discounts cannot be combined. * Payments can be made by credit card, bank transfer, or EFT.

Who Can Join?

The program is designed for children aged 6–11 in the Optimist class and young sailors aged 12–16 in the ILCA Laser class. Children who can swim are welcome to join, regardless of their previous sailing experience. • Our Summer Sailing School consists of five two-week sessions. • Training is held on weekdays from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM as a half-day program. • Class placement may be adjusted based on each participant’s physical suitability and the instructor’s evaluation, if deemed necessary.
